It's officially football season! Fantasy teams are drafted, the snack table is already being planned in your head, and in the back of your mind you're thinking about how to enjoy all the football season snacks without completely derailing the progress you've worked for.
Just a friendly reminder that you do not have to choose between game day food and your goals. You just need a few smarter swaps that actually taste good and truthfully no one at the party may know the difference. 😏
The Secret Ingredient Your Dip Table Is Missing
Blended cottage cheese is having a moment, and for good reason. When you blend it until smooth, it becomes a creamy, protein-packed base that works in almost any dip you already love. Think of it as a high-protein alternative to sour cream or cream cheese but has the same texture, same richness, way better macros.
It's kid-friendly, crowd-pleasing, and genuinely delicious. The kind of recipe where you'll want to tell people what's in it because it tastes too good to keep to yourself.
One cup of cottage cheese gives you roughly 25 grams of protein before you even add anything else to the bowl. For anyone trying to hit their daily protein goals, building that kind of protein into food you were already going to eat at a party is a serious win!!
Three Dips Worth Making This Season
I have three go-to dips that have been on heavy rotation at our house and they all use blended cottage cheese as the base.
Crack Dip — creamy, savory, and dangerously good. This one disappears fast at every get-together. Watch the reel here.
Buffalo Chicken Dip — all the heat and flavor you want from a classic buffalo dip, with a protein boost that makes it feel a lot less guilty. Watch the reel here.
Corn Dip — this one might be my favorite. It's bright, a little tangy, and pairs with absolutely everything. It's staying in my rotation well past football season. Watch the reel here.
Staying on Track When the Snack Table Is Calling
Football season is fun, but it can also be one of those seasons where weeks go by and you realize your nutrition has slowly slipped. Here is the simple mindset shift that helps: instead of trying to avoid the food, focus on building your plate smarter.
Start with protein. Always. Whether that's one of these dips, a plate of wings, or something grilled, anchor your plate in protein first and then enjoy the rest. This is the same principle behind the LJW approach to nutrition, and it works just as well at a tailgate as it does on a Tuesday night at home.
The goal is not a perfect plate at every party. The goal is consistency that bends without breaking. Swaps like these make that a whole lot easier. Enjoy!!
