Meet Libby: Nurse Turned Nutrition Coach and LJW Team Member
Welcome back to another episode of the LJW Mini Podcast! This week we have a special guest — Libby Angle, premium nutrition coach here at Lexi J Wellness.
From Night Shift Nurse to Nutrition Coach
First day of school vibes — Libby, tell us who you are.
"I am a premium nutrition coach with LJW, but I first started as a nurse, and that's kind of what led me here. I knew that I could do more in the proactive healthcare space and I wanted to be able to pour into people before they ended up in the hospital setting where I was currently working at."
So she started bodybuilding herself — and watched her own body transform through nutrition.
"I saw how my own body transformed through that and so I was like, this could be something. I'm very passionate about that. I just started educating myself. I got some certifications when I was working as a night shift nurse and kind of went from there."
When her first pregnancy arrived and her husband's schedule — fire, paramedic, military — made the juggle impossible, she made the leap.
"I figured out pretty quickly that the nursing and fire paramedic military schedules were not conducive to having a family. So I was like, maybe I can go the nutrition route. And here I am today."
That was two and a half years ago. She applied for the LJW position while on vacation. "I was like, I have to make time. I'm not going to the beach today. I'm filling out this application. This is so important to me." She got the job in July of 2023 — almost three years ago now.
Family Vacations, Jamaica, and a Bartender Who Said Everything Right
Libby grew up on a farm and has always loved the outdoors. It's the thread running through every vacation her family takes.
"I love immersing myself in the culture and trying all new foods and meeting new people is so fun."
This year the family headed to Jamaica for a resort trip — their first ever. And the people did not disappoint.
"I was actually at the bar getting a smoothie — a non-alcoholic smoothie, just casual — and the bartender came up and said, 'I just want to commend you for bringing your son on vacation and for being like a family unit. I can tell that you were such a loving mom, loving parents, and it's just so cool to see that.'"
They had actually gone back and forth about bringing their son Seth — both Libby and her husband turned 30 this year and it was supposed to be a milestone trip. But they couldn't do it without him.
"We were like, we cannot not bring him. We love him so much. It's going to be a little bit harder, of course, but it's so worth it. The airport's not fun with a toddler. The flight is not fun. There's some parts that are challenging, but overall it's just so worth it."
On Motherhood and Living Your Life
One of the things Libby feels most strongly about — integrating her son into the life she's already built, rather than the other way around.
"I love showing the motherhood realm now — how we live life and so they get to integrate into your own life instead of you completely changing yours when you have kids. And I think that's so important."
Outside of travel, Libby loves reading (her mom is a librarian — she has a full home library to prove it), sunsets, sunrises, and the great outdoors. And the LJW team itself.
"We actually also get to be best friends with our clients, which is amazing. It's like she's my good friend, but I also — she's my client. We have a relationship. We blur a lot of lines. It's fine."
Thank you for tuning in! We'll see you next week for more goodness.
