When you’re working to create better nutritional habits and prioritize things like protein, your morning coffee can be the hardest thing to change up. We all love the taste of creamer or a local coffee shop, but can’t always afford that financially or are willing to spend macros on that daily.

That is exactly why I am going to be loyal to this recipe for the foreseeable future!! It rivals a local coffee shop latte, helps start my day with 35 grams of protein, and is simple enough to make while my espresso is brewing and our morning is getting started.

This salted caramel protein coffee combines espresso, honey, cinnamon, French vanilla collagen, salted caramel protein powder, and creamy Fairlife milk. I have a few tricks to make it mix smoothly and a few easy ways to adjust it based on your needs!!

My New Favorite Protein Coffee Recipe ☕️

Approximate Macros (1 serving): 238 calories | 35g protein | 12g carbohydrates | 5g fat

Your exact numbers may vary slightly depending on the specific milk you use or if you choose to increase the protein powder serving.

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots of espresso

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • Cinnamon (measured with your heart)

  • 1 scoop 1st Phorm French Vanilla Collagen

  • ¼ scoop 1st Phorm Salted Caramel protein powder

  • 1 cup Fairlife milk

  • Ice

Instructions:

  1. Start by brewing two shots of espresso directly over one teaspoon of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
  2. Froth or stir the mixture immediately so the honey melts into the hot espresso instead of settling at the bottom of your glass - I also find this helps it mix better in the milk!
  3. In a separate cup or shaker, combine one scoop of 1st Phorm French Vanilla Collagen and ¼-½ scoop of 1st Phorm Salted Caramel protein powder with one cup of Fairlife milk.
  4. Mix thoroughly until the powders are fully dissolved and the milk looks smooth and then add ice.
  5. Slowly pour the espresso mixture over the top and take some time to appreciate that pretty layered coffee look - it’s all about finding joy in the little things 🤩

That’s it. No blender, complicated syrup, or trip through the coffee shop drive-through required 🙌

Easy Ways to Customize the Recipe

For a stronger coffee flavor, reduce the milk slightly. For a milder drink, just use one shot of espresso!

You can also adjust the sweetness by using less honey or leaving it out completely. The protein powder already provides some sweetness, so you may find that you do not need as much honey after making the recipe a few times.

For a warmer version, skip the ice and heat the milk before mixing in the powders. Add the warm protein milk to your espresso slowly and stir well.

You can also experiment with pumpkin pie spice, a tiny pinch of sea salt, or a different protein flavor!
