Five Benefits of Walking
Hello Ladies! It's Michan!

We’ve all heard that walking improves our health but how?! Today, I wanted to go over 5 ways a simple walk or step goal can help improve your overall health!

  1. Improves Heart Health – Regular walking strengthens the heart and reduces the risk of heart disease. Walking increases your heart rate which helps increase your blood flow and lower blood pressure.

  2. Boosts Mental Well-Being – Walking can help reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression. Walking triggers the release of endorphins or our happy hormones and lower cortisol or our stress hormones!

  3. Supports Weight Management – It helps burn calories and maintain a healthy weight.

  4. Enhances Joint Health – Walking lubricates joints and can reduce arthritis pain. This increase blood flow to the joints and strengthens the muscles around the joints which leads to reduction of pain!

  5. Increases Energy and Stamina – It boosts circulation and helps improve overall energy levels!

Here are some tips to boost your steps and get you excited to GYAO and walk!

  1. Listen to music or podcasts – It makes the time fly and keeps your mind engaged.

  2. Walk with a friend or group – Socializing can make it more enjoyable and motivating.

  3. Set goals – We love a good step goal! Find your baseline and work up from there adding in 1,000-2,000 extra steps!

  4. Change your route – Exploring new paths or neighborhoods keeps it interesting and your mind sharp!

  5. GYAO – Getting outside while walking can provide the benefits of sunshine and increasing vitamin D levels!!
