Vacations, grilling, lake trips, pool days, bonfires, baseball games, weekend get-togethers with friendsβ¦ summer holds SO many fun activities βοΈπποΈ
Β
When you are on your health and wellness journey, it feels like you have to choose one or the other - a fun summer and consistently prioritizing your nutrition/movement canβt possibly co-exist, right?!Β
Β
Wrong.
Β
Here are 5 tips to help you doΒ BOTHΒ β¬οΈ
1. GET YOUR MOVEMENT DONE IN THE MORNING.Β
Β
This is a win-win because you set the tone for the day by doing the hard thing first, and then you can enjoy the rest of the day and say βyesβ to any spontaneous plans that might come up! Studies show that when you get movement in first thing, that you are more likely to make better nutritional choices and be more active throughout the day.
Β
2. PLAN FOR THE WEEK.
Β
Failing to plan is planning to fail. Set yourself up for success by scheduling in your workouts & meal planning for the week around your busy schedule! Treat these things as something like a βdoctorβs appointmentβ that you wouldnβt miss. It also prevents decision-making fatigue that can occur when youβre flying by the seat of your pants!
Β
3. DONβT MISS TWICE.
Β
If you have a night where you indulge or donβt stick to the game plan - it happens! Donβt miss twice and course correct to make the next meal a better one. If you miss a workout, get one done the following day! This keeps your body in motion and promotes consistency to prevent that βblack & whiteβ mindset. Perfection is an unrealistic expectation, itβs all about what we do MOST often.
Β
4. SCHEDULE THAT 80/20 BALANCE.
Β
If you know you have a fun BBQ or get-together over the weekend, plan ahead! Itβs okay to have a fun meal or drink every now and then - the key is moderation. Plan to indulge a little, but then choose to dial in the next day. When you plan ahead in this way, you can then better stick to the game plan with other events throughout the week because you have pre-decided when to have those fun foods/drinks!
Β
5. GET OUTSIDE DAILY.
Β
A busy schedule can sometimes feel stressful, but the sunshine and fresh air can be a way to relax and keep those stress levels lowered. Itβs also a great chance to multitask and get those steps in! Donβt forget to stay hydrated while doing so - keeping that water, flavored water, or electrolytes on hand at all times will help remind you of this!
